Les Compagnons du Devoir et du Tour de France
The Companions system has existed in France and in Europe for 8 centuries and is based on 3 essential principals:
- The trade
- The journey (during his Tour of France the Companion meets, exchanges and learns in all the regions travelled)
- The transmission (passing on his skills is a means of enriching his profession).
It is the continuation of a technical and philosophical teaching method whose concept dates back to the origin of trades. The Companions, who participated in the construction of cathedrals and the Eiffel Tower, are at the forefront of some today’s major achievements and participate in the restoration of prestigious buildings and major contemporary projects.
